FIRST VISIT

Your first appointment with the dental hygienist for a cleaning will involve an intra oral exam, a head and neck exam, oral hygiene instruction and if necessary x-rays as determined by the dentist following their  intra oral exam.  The dentist will discuss their findings with you. This is a good time to discuss any particular concerns you might have concerning any of the treatment options.

Your initial appointment usually will consist of an intra-oral examination and may require review of your treatment options with our patient care coordinator who is a Registered Dental Hygienist. Usually, treatment can be done or started the same day as the consultation. However, a complex medical history or treatment plan will require an evaluation and a second appointment to provide treatment on another day.

Please assist us by providing the following information at the time of your consultation:

  • Any x-rays taken by a previous dentist, if applicable.
  • A list of prescribed and non-prescribed medications, as well any alternative therapies you are presently taking.
  • If you have dental insurance, bring the necessary completed forms. This will save time and allow us to help you process any claims.

IMPORTANT: First visits by patients under the age of 18 should be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Please alert the office if you have a medical condition that may be of concern prior to treatment (i.e., diabetes, high blood pressure, artificial heart valves and joints, rheumatic fever, etc.) or if you are currently taking any medication (i.e., heart medications, aspirin, anticoagulant therapy, etc.).

X-RAYS

To avoid taking unnecessary radiographs, you may request them from your previous dentist or have them forward them to our office. Our staff can also request them on your behalf. If additional x-rays are necessary, they can be taken at our office.
