Many people ask what is the difference is between a store purchased teeth whitening kit and professional teeth whitening options? One main difference is safety and effectiveness. Store kits can produce some degree of lightening over weeks and weeks of daily exposure. These kits use standard fitting trays or strips which often result in over exposure of the solution to your gums causing sensitization and even damage. Professional consultations ensure a desired result and a follow-up appointment are both important aspects of the take-home teeth whitening kits available from your dentist. Your trays are custom-fit to keep the whitening solution on the surface of your teeth and exposure for excellent results is only 1 – 2 weeks because the product uses professional concentrations of the whitening solution.
Is there a faster way to get a beautiful white smile…yes….ZOOM… results in one appointment!
The Zoom procedure is four easy steps:
1. A short preparation to cover your gums, lips and the skin around your lips, leaving only your teeth exposed to the laser light.
2. The dentist will apply the Zoom whitening gel which is specifically formulated to work with the Zoom Teeth Whitening laser light. The gel and the light work together to gently penetrate the top surface layers of your teeth to remove stains and discolouration.
3. The gel will be applied for three or four fifteen minute sessions for a total time of 45 – 60 minutes, removing and cleaning your teeth after each 15 minute cycle. This extra step allows our dentist to closely monitor your colour.
4. Once the three – four sessions have been completed, your teeth will be cleaned and you will go home with a brighter, whiter smile, in just one visit.
